Four Steps in Finding, Joining, and Maintaining a MLM Network

Anyone who has spent more than five minute doing any kind of research on work from home opportunities will have found the online ads for multi level marketing (MLM) business opportunities. As a matter of fact, if you have an email address, the odds are good that you have received more than one offer to join a marketing network already!

Yet to go about this the right way, you will need to observe four distinct steps in finding, joining, and maintaining a MLM network.

1. Research the products on the Internet that interest you. You will find that almost anything and everything is being network marketed. By far the most popular product are wellness goods, such as nutritional supplements, specially formulated shampoos and soaps, weight loss products, and of course body building supplements. Not as popular are durable goods such as kitchen ware, jewelry, knives, and furniture. Zero in on the products that genuinely interest you not just from a marketing point of view but also from a consumer perspective. Order the product and try it out. Does it measure up to its advertisements or is less than satisfactory? Once you find a product you like, move on to the second step.

2. Find out which companies will market the product you like. Some will be direct distributors while others will be network marketers. Pick and choose carefully the company and scheme that offers you the best payout rate.

3. Research the company prior to joining and it checks out according to your comfort level sign up!

4. Last but not least, commit to marketing the product as well as using it. You will find that you will be much more convincing when you sell a product that you personally use than when you try and sell a company or private consumer on something you only know via the brochures.

Remember that these four steps in finding, joining and maintaining a MLM network do not guarantee success. Instead, the goal is to decrease the likelihood of your signing up for an opportunity that later on proves to be the wrong product or company. More than any other reason for failing, this is one of the most commonly cited reasons why network marketers will abandon their up line and down line positions and instead of continuing to grow their business they will choose alternative forms of revenue generation.

Interestingly, you may apply these four steps also to carefully pick the participants for your down line. While you will find the occasional individual that is entirely money motivated, by and large you will find that better success may be had with those who believe in the product that is being sold. That said, remember that a sales or marketing power house will be able to sell anything to anyone, and if you are in the position to include a sales whiz into your network, you will find that actual product affinity may legitimately take a backseat to marketing ability, sales technique, and overall enthusiasm.
